All levels first rounds are already on the schedule and were drawn by random draw. AA does a single elimination playoff with consolation games for eliminated teams. AAA and Majors will be double elimination.
***Coin flips determine home for all games.
Pitch counts must be recorded by scoring the game using GameChanger for AAA and Majors. **All pitchers must report pitch counts from other leagues.** Teams found in violation of pitch count and rest requirements will forfeit the game in which ineligible players pitched. Pitch limit rules can be found on our rule set. Pitching in any game (internal or travel) counts toward your pitch counts.
Pitch count rules:
https://www.littleleague.org/playing-rules/pitch-count/
**Note: Pitchers may always finish the batter if the limit pitch was reached during that batter. Example, if a pitcher is starting a batter on pitch 50 (2-day's rest limit), they may pitch however many pitches it takes to finish that batter and their pitch count for days rest remains at 50. The same is true for the max pitches per day limit. Note, if the inning ends due to activity on the basepath or for other reasons, they do not get to continue pitching to that batter if they resume an at bat the next inning. The at-bat is considered complete from the pitcher's perspective if any action causes the inning to end.
Please remember - these are kids. This is for fun. Congratulate them on their great play and everything they've learned. Keep things positive and exciting so they'll all come back next year.
**Player Pitch Rules Clarifications**
- 40' minimum pitching distance - players and coaches
- Player hit by pitch continues to bat
- Strikes thrown by pitcher count
- Strikes thrown by coach count even if not swung at (continuing from pitcher thrown strike count)
- 7 players or less must take an out while batting (8 player minimum lineup - essentially take an out in the 8th spot)
- 2 inning limit per pitcher or 50 pitches whichever is earlier (essentially 12-13 batters at 4 pitches per batter)
- example: if a player has pitched 2 innings, but only 35 pitches, they may not pitch a 3rd inning
- Need a line on Russell for the "fence"
- Rolls past fence for a ground rule triple
- Flies over fence for a Home Run
- Fair/Foul/Out/Strike called by on-field umpire
- Unless the umpire asks for help (coaches should not call fair/foul/safe/out/strike unless asked by umpire)
- Players advance until the ball is returned past the cut of the infield grass (possession not needed). If around a base they continue to the next base.
- Dead ball after the ball returns from the outfield with the exception that the infield can try to make a defensive play
- Runners advance to their next base until ball crosses to infield
- No additional advance on subsequent errors or overthrows
- If the home team is ahead in the final inning, the do not bat.
- When the final inning has been identified due to the "no inning may start after 7:15 rule"
- Agree on final inning with the umpire before it starts (even if it doesn't end after 7:15)
- Check pitch counts between each half inning
- Check scores between each half inning
- Tie games - base race for the win
- Coach scheduled to pitch stands outside fair territory until called to pitch (ump will hand balls to pitcher)
**AAA and Majors Rules - Same rules as regular season**
